That cute little mouse studying in that picture yesterday? It’s actually on a t-shirt I found at the thrift store, and under the mouse reads “no animal testing”
I thought it was freakin’ hilarious.
all kidding aside, I am fervently anti-vivisection. One of my favorite quotes says it all:
I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn’t. The pain which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further. -Mark Twain, author and humorist (1835-1910)
*steps off soap box*
That beautiful material you saw yesterday is now a scarf! I found it at a thrift store and loved it so much I had to take it home. It was originally part of a really cute dress, but it was ripped around the waistline and I didn’t see any way to fix it, so I figured I could make something out of it. Plus, it’s silk, and for $3.50 I couldn’t turn it down.
Here’s the original dress:
Yes, the dress and my favorite jeans hanging on a cat tree.
(Hey! I use what’s available, ok? stop poking fun at me…)
Anyway, the top part I still have, but not sure yet what to do with it. I’m keeping it for damn sure, it’s such nice material. This gives me incentive to look for other nice silk stuff at thrift stores. You can find some of the best stuff at thrift stores…
So, you know that my husband has left me, right? And he took the two puppies with him, for company.
There is a park nearby where my husband is staying, and recently, he took them there for a run around. This is Lola, who is obviously having such a good time, she’s levitating.
I took shorthand in high school and I got so good at it that I could take dictation at 100 words a minute. I’ve always had a love and fascination and affinity with words and language, and this kind of solidified it for me.
Needless to say I’m not as fast taking dictation anymore, but I still find shorthand fun and fascinating.
The earrings are a simple pair of sterling silver hammered hoops, for sale on my Etsy site.
Have I mentioned that Lola likes to sleep on my head?
The photo yesterday is of my mom when she came to visit me this past April. She was here for a week, which was nice. I took her to The Artistic Hand, a really cool place to shop, and as it happens, I also sell my jewelry here.
This mosaic entryway was new, so to capture the moment, I took a photo of mom under it. I recently sent her a framed version of this photo for her birthday, which is today, and she loved it.
Happy birthday mom!
The photo yesterday is an up close view of a scarf I have. I love the colors and design, I just wish I had something complementary to wear it with.
Since I sit most of the day, like many of us, I need a good stretch from time to time to help keep me awake, and to keep from getting rusty and tired.
I have this picture on my desktop at work, as a reminder of what I need to do every afternoon. I may not get through all of it – time permitting – but something is better than nothing, amirite?
Yesterday’s photo was of the lovely, talented, and so damn cute Lola, with a new photo editing app Paper Artist. It’s really cool, check it out.
Yesterday’s photo was a cartoon version of a photo of a pair of earrings I made. I like to play with camera apps, if you can’t tell, and I was fooling around one day and came up with what you saw.
