These kids know how to relax.
These kids know how to relax.
There were light snow flurries this morning and it’s still a little overcast, so besides the above, all I need now is some soup and a comfy blanket.
Hope you have a fantastic day too.
That may sound trite, or dumb, or like a no-brainer, but I’ve found it to be so true.
I have lived with varying degrees and forms of anxiety for most of my life. (Once I figured out it was anxiety, and not some fatal character/personality flaw). How often I would make up scenarios in my head of what may happen, or could happen, and how I would react; only to have nothing happen at all. Nada. Zilch. Not a damn thing happened and I worried and stressed and got knots in my stomach and was anxious for nothing. It’s been a ridiculous stress filled ride for most of my life and I’m tired of it.
So now I just say in my head “assume everything is fine, until it’s not”
Which kind of makes sense, right? Why worry about something that may never happen?
Kids are playing outside? Great, assume everything is fine until it’s not.
The dogs are chasing each other in the yard? Excellent, let them run until they are so tired they can’t stand up, and everything is fine until it’s not.
Taking a long road trip? Fun! Grab your travel pillow, phone charger, snacks, drinks, playlist and set your map; everything is fine until it’s not.
Don’t worry that the kids may fall down and chip a tooth. It may never happen. (still, keep an eye on them.)
Don’t stress that the dogs might chase a cat up a tree. There may not be any cats around.
Don’t be concerned about traffic delays or accidents or inclement weather. None (or all) of those things may happen, but you’ll be fine anyway.
And if you’re not, you’ll deal with it then. And you’ll be able to deal with it then, trust yourself.
Just stop with the anxiety.
I know it’s easier said than done, but it is possible.
So say it with me, “assume everything is fine, until it’s not.”
Have a great restful Sunday.
These kids are taking it to the next level, right? I was working on some knitting and I looked over and saw this.
They made me want to take a nap myself.
I’m still working on my knitting project and it is coming along. It’ll be awhile before I’m done, but it’ll get done.
Enjoying a relaxing day. Hope you are too.
With senior pets you know what you’re getting, their size and temperament, and they are not as rambunctious. And most of the time, they’re still cute, right?
Aren’t all parents biased?
Such a cute little kissy face…
Anyway, naturally we are relaxing today. We spent a good 2 hours at the dog park to be thoroughly exhausted so mom can get some sewing done without a puppy paw scratching at us, all the while listening to some non-traditional Christmas music, which makes it so much more fun!
I also sorted through all my knitting needles and I seem to have a set in almost every size. I’m ready for some yarn buying tomorrow! (On sale, of course)
I hope whatever you’re doing today I hope you are happy and healthy and well rested and enjoying your day.
It was SO gorgeous this morning, we stayed at the park for 2 hours! YES! Puppies loved it and it made them extra tired.
I don’t know if it was the time change or the cooler weather, but it was a bit crazy at the dog park this morning. Lots of yelling and barking and whining and kids fighting and trying to hump each other, and not in the fun way. We stayed out of the fray by hanging out at this pavilion close to the woods and also close to parking. It’s funny about this pavilion, it’s like it’s invisible. People don’t seem to see you there, no one really comes by, it’s kind of nice. I usually hang back here when I come to the park in the evenings, so to keep out of the way of big dogs that scare Lola. She’s been run over so many times by big dogs that are playing, but they don’t realize how big they are to her, and poor thing gets tumbled in the dirt and is really scared.
Lola is funny though, for all her being scared of other dogs, she’s my alarm system. She will sleep in the living room at night and bark at whatever she thinks may be a threat. When I’m on the patio, she’ll stand guard and if she hears a strange noise, she’ll run into the backyard barking and snorting and huffing and puffing…like this little 10 pound dog will just tear somebody apart if they step foot in this yard! Although I have to say, Anna is her back up and she can be pretty fierce. People tend to back away from a 3 legged dog that ain’t afraid of people nor animals.
So I am working on some home made gifts for the holidays – earrings, small clutches, key rings – and some repairs – I really need to hem my pants for work and my heavy duty machine has a hem stitch that I have been dying to try out – as well as piece together my project for the Trash2Trends show next year.
And, of course, I need to work in a nap today. Thankfully I am off tomorrow, so I can catch up on some stuff. This time change throws me off every time. I follow the circadian rhythm so much that when it is dark at 530p, I just want to go to bed. Darkness = bedtime, right?
Anyway, I hope you have a restful day.
