A little Monday motivation

img_4236-1

I have not felt terribly motivated lately, but when I saw the sage growing so lovely in the garden, and I bought a new herbal book that has some great ideas in it, I decided to cut some fresh sage, and lavender, and make up some smudge sticks.

I save the flowers with seeds to plant next year, as I’d like to expand the garden with herbs. This book is so full of great simple ideas for using herbs in your food, life, and house that I want to book mark every page. I happened upon it browsing through my local library’s page. There is a summer reading challenge going on and since I love books, and a challenge, I am participating.

On another note, my new job has kept me so busy learning new things, and meeting new people, and organizing/purging/cleaning my new workspace that I have felt I have little time left to do much else. There is a lot of new paperwork that I need to sort through, new procedures and computer programs I need to learn, and LOTS of old files that have no semblance of order or coherence. Thankfully we have secured document destruction boxes so I have been making good use of them.

Oh, and other interesting news, our basement flooded a couple weeks ago. Not a bad flood, only a few inches of water, but that means that all the furniture and carpet tiles are now on top of my sewing table and cutting table and pool table (which serves as a pattern layout table). Needless to say, I haven’t done much sewing in the past couple weeks since my machine is now squashed behind a wooden coffee table I had downstairs. There is just crap everywhere and since the problem hasn’t been totally fixed yet, I am afraid to move anything. Happily, I have my knitting and crocheting to keep me sane and creative.

Puppies, and I, have been enjoying this awesome summer weather! Lovely warm days, cool nights, some breeze, lots of birds singing and squirrels to chase. It’s supposed to be hot later this week and next week for the 4th so we are enjoying it while we can.

Life ebbs and flows, right? So this slump will soon pass.

I hope all is well with you.
